Rashtrapati Bhavan:
Solar Infrastructure for One of India’s Most Prestigious Institutions

450 kW capacity

Multiple structures

25+ year lifespan

RESCO-based model

Horizon Renewable Power is developing a 450 kW grid-connected rooftop solar project at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Dehradun, a landmark institutional campus and one of India’s most distinguished government properties.

The project spans multiple structures across the campus, including carport structures, toilet blocks, electrical substations, maintenance offices, and library facilities,  transforming everyday operational infrastructure into energy-generating assets.

Executed under the RESCO model, the project includes planning, installation, and long-term maintenance support.

Project Scope

  • Deployment of grid-connected rooftop solar systems across government buildings
  • Site survey, design, engineering, and installation
  • Net metering and utility integration
  • Long-term power supply under RESCO agreements
  • 25+ years O&M responsibilities
  • Lifecycle performance monitoring and asset management

Execution Complexity

This is not a standalone rooftop installation; it is a distributed institutional infrastructure within a high-security government campus.

  • Multiple building types
  • Site-specific engineering & structural assessments
  • Coordination within a functioning high-security environment
  • Electrical safety, compliance, & grid synchronization
  • Long-term monitoring & operational accountability

Impact

450 kW distributed solar capacity

~~6.5 - 7 lakh units (kWh) of clean energy annually

~500+ tonnes of CO₂
emissions avoided/year

Equivalent to CO₂ absorbed by 25,000 trees annually
